My self-initiated projects explore the varying political, philosophical and social issues we face today, capturing images that present a truth, a reality, a human warmth, a theme recurrent in my work. Through the medium of portraiture, I seek to witness and record intimate moments of human emotion, exposing a reality that is unshielded and therefore authentic.
Selected in 2016 and 2014 for the National Portrait Gallery’s Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Award. Shortlisted with Honorary mention in 2016 for the Life Framer Photography Prize, in the ‘Youthhood’ Category.
Awarded a development grant from Doha Film Institute (DFI) for my first narrative feature film ‘Hitch 60′ based on the life of my mother and her best friend in the 1960s. The project has been invited by DFI for participation in QUMRA 2017 and will receive mentorship, nurturing, and hands-on development from international film industry experts. Recently completed the Gulf Summer University scholarship in 2016 to study at France’s National Film school, La Fémis, ranked one of the top 10 film schools in the world by ‘The Hollywood Reporter’.
